If you thought your information was secure on Elance, think again. They have been hacked and user information is posted on this site. For some people, it was only a profile. For others it was more private information. If you think it was just a scraper, think again. Some people have reported secure information like passwords and socials were posted.
Elance posted an announcement about the hack on their Water Cooler forum. Elance is tricky though, since not everyone posts and reads the Water Cooler. Additionally, you need a username and password on Elance to see the post, so searching for it on a search engine finds no results.
If you were ever an Elance provider, you may want to search outsourceroom.com for your information. I am an inactive provider, and my information was posted. Elance claims they are working on it, but the hack is going on for about a month now and the information is still posted.
I’m guessing they hired one of their inferior $50 budget providers or buyers to do their security, proving once again you get what you pay for.
